We've been enjoying almost autumn-like weather for the past few days here in Chester County - sunny warm days and crisp, cool evenings. Time for apple pie! I picked up beautiful apples at the West Chester Growers Market - compliments of North Star Orchards - growers of heirloom apples. For my pie I selected chehalis and premiere apples - they look too good to eat!
I made a sour cream apple pie with a crunchy walnut crumb topping that I found at epicurious. Here it is all ready to go into the oven - I made the pie according to the recipe - no changes - unusual for me.
And here it is all packed up for yet another Labor Day picnic - this time with my family. It turned out perfectly!
